  • At Last... a blog!!

    The Lovely me!

    Hello Everyone!

What with the wonderful world of myspace, my poor little blog got forgotten... ahhhhh! But Kenny gave me a kick up the bum...

Anyway.. welcome back to the blog!

I've made it two thirds of the way thru the year, what an achievement for us all. It's been a tough year for the team, but all is finally sorted and well with the Leicester Pais Team.

I'm writing this on my lovely 3 days off before I embark on the lovely journey to Skegness Butlins for Spring Harvest with the Aylestone Baptist mob. Going on Thursday and coming back next Tues, so I'll be there for Easter... no easter eggs *sob sob*.

Anyway, it should be really good, about half the church are going (50ish), so it should be an amazing relationship building time! I'm in a chalet with the lads: Greg, Jason, Jamie, Tony & Matt. Please pray that this will be a turning point in their lives. Greg & Tony are finding the whole church thing really hard at the moment and haven't been for quite some time, Jason now works on Sundays, and Jason's brother Jamie is not a Christian.

This week will be an amazing opportunity to get alongside these lads, please pray that they'll all experience God in an amazing way and be brought back to church, and that God will show himself to Jamie, and he'll surrender his life over Easter!

So i'm really excited about what God's got planned this Easter!

Where was I?? Oh yes... this term has been an amazing turnaround for our team, we've all been so positive, and really developed a 'team love' which has just helped so much in the schools, being united in one aim etc etc. So it's been a really encouraging term, we're working in 3 High schools and 7 Primary Schools, with another two primary schools on the cards, as it were, that we're expecting to start after Easter.

Things at ABC (church) have been fantastic, we finish the Youth Alpha course this Wednesday. It's been an amazing time, we've had fairly steady numbers each week, 12-14ish. The church has got really behind this initiative, with different people cooking each week and some people 'guest speaking' at the course, so it's been a really good experience, we had a great Holy Spirit weekend a few weeks ago, where it was really evident that the Spirit was working in these young peoples lives.

Ok, well I've got finger ache now, so I'm going to round this update off.

Thank you all for supporting what I'm doing, in your prayers, and also through the money you're supporting me with. This year has taught me so much and really grown me into the person God is wanting me to be.

So thank you all - you're fantastic - take care & God bless!

I'm back in kent between 11th April - 22nd April!

  • We're in Leicester!

    Hello Every1!

Sorry it's been a while since I've updated the blog, been so busy!!

We arrived in Leicester almost 2 weeks ago now after a long drive down from 3 weeks training in Yorkshire.

My room at my hosts house is amazing! It's a loft conversion and has a bedroom section, a lounge section and an office section!
I'm settled in now and we're getting on really well.

During the day 8:30 - 4:30pm we're either at one of our two offices (very posh!) preparing schools ministry or we're at schools doing schools ministry!
The 1st week was 'Vision Week' which was getting to know Leicester, contacting schools and doing lots of prayer!
So far this week we've done 2 lots of playground support at a primary school, an assembly at a primary school and an after school club at a primary school!

In the evenings we do Youth Work at our individual churches.
I'm involved in a Drama Production called All and Sundry on Tuesday,
Y Study (youth bible study) on Wednesday
and TGI Friday (thank God it's Friday)which is a Youth group obviously on Friday! Then I do Junior church with the older ones on Sunday Morning!

That's all for now cos it's 4:30pm and I'm off home!!
    BYE!

  • Visit of Leicester!

I went up to Leicester this week for a day to see the church and meet the people!

I first met my line manager for the year Elaine(or E-Laine!) and her husband Martin - 2 very cool people. My image of Elaine on the phone was very differnt to the real life image, she is in fact very hip and "with it" (Elaine was apparantly voted the best line manager in Leicester last year!)

I then met Maxine - a crazy woman - hehe!

The Minister, Tim and his family put me up for the night, they're a really lovely family with 2 boys.

I went to the Holiday club at the church on Thursday Morning - there were so many kids and it was a really busy morning with loads crammed in... it was really good!

The church is really family orientated and everyones always round everyone elses house all the time and stuff - there's a real sense of community. I was introduced to so many people over the 24 hours and I really can't remember most of the names! Sorry!

I met my host for the year, Peter a really nice chap and I've got what sounds like a penthouse suite at the top of the house! Thanks Pete!

Oh and a big shout out to some of the kids that I can remember - Joel, Alex, Grace, Joe, James, Ben (the 4 year old with the funky hair), Ailsbeth (if that's spelt right and charlotte - Happy Birthday! And to all the others - there were so many!

It was really sad leaving you all but i'll be back next month!
